This past week has been kind of crazy for me—not in a way that was amazing or terrible, just a lot of things happening all at once. I had a bunch of work lined up, and one of the projects was shooting video content with someone we're working with on a few cases. He needed me to film some specific content, and I was all set to head up to Charlotte to use our video studio. But, as luck would have it, another hurricane started forming, which threw everything off. He couldn’t fly up to Charlotte because of the weather. Now, thankfully, this hurricane wasn’t nearly as bad as the last one we dealt with, and it didn’t seem like it would have affected us much. But after everything that happened with the previous one, we were both on edge and didn’t want to take any chances. It wasn’t worth risking flying into a storm only to end up not being able to work.
Since I couldn’t get to the studio, I decided to try recording the video at home. I had all the equipment—a camera and even a tripod. But, as it turned out, I didn’t order the right size tripod for my camera, which threw another wrench into the plans. So, my wife ended up helping me record by setting the camera up on this tripod that we had to stack on top of books to make it the right height. It was a bit of a disaster, but we made it work! The whole experience really reminded me of something my dad used to tell me when I was younger: "Make sure you have the right tool for the job because it makes things a whole lot easier." I couldn’t stop thinking about that as we were balancing the tripod on books to get the job done.
To add to the chaos, I’ve been battling a cold. I think the change in temperature triggered my sinuses and allergies because I’ve been stuffy and congested for about a week and a half now. It hasn’t been anything too terrible, but I’ve had to rely on some DayQuil during the day and deal with a bit of a cough at night. Nothing major, but it has been annoying while trying to keep up with work and everything else going on.
On top of everything, Holly and I had scheduled a photographer to come to the house to take some pictures last Friday. Of course, this happened while we were both still feeling under the weather, which made it a little tough. I was definitely more sick than she was, but we powered through and managed to get some great photos that we really like. We were both happy with how they turned out, even though it felt like everything was stacked against us.
Sam, our son, was also home for fall break this past week, which was a lot of fun. It was nice having him around, but having him back threw my diet off track a bit! Young adults don’t really enjoy sticking to the whole chicken and rice meal plan that I’ve been trying to follow. So, Holly ended up making some of his favorite meals while he was home, and I couldn’t resist. My diet definitely got off cycle, but it was worth it to enjoy some good meals with the family.
We also watched the UFC fight on Saturday, which was nice because it was an early card. The main card was actually pretty good, and we enjoyed watching it together. Sam’s been trying to convince me to find a local amateur MMA event around Atlanta that we could all go to sometime. So, we’ve been looking into that, which could be fun.
All in all, it wasn’t a crazy week, but there was a lot happening. Holly and I are now getting ready for next week because we’re heading to New York City Comic Con! This will be our first time going, so we’re excited and a little nervous about how overwhelming it might be. But it should be a fun experience. Sam had me take him to a local comic book store in Fayetteville earlier this week, which was a fun outing. I ended up buying a little mystery knickknack for Holly while we were there. And, within five minutes of being home, she spotted it and immediately wanted to open it up! It was one of those little moments that make you smile.
As Halloween gets closer, we’ve also been noticing more and more decorations popping up around the house. Holly has really been getting into the Halloween spirit, and we’re planning to do our haunted house again this year, which is always a fun time for us.
So, even though it wasn’t a totally crazy week, there was a lot going on, and I’m glad we got through it all. Just a reminder—if you’re in pain, call Shane!

Paw Offices of Teddy, Robin, & Kingston
As October rolls in, I can feel the excitement bubbling inside me! I’m Kingston the cat, and this time of year is simply purr-fect. I love watching the leaves swirl outside the window, dancing in the crisp fall air. All the colorful decorations popping up around the neighborhood are fascinating—pumpkins, ghosts, and bats! I can’t help but paw at the ones that hang down; they sway back and forth, and I wonder what they are up to.
And oh, the costumes! The thought of dressing up for Halloween gets my tail twitching with joy. I might not love wearing a costume, but I find it so amusing to see my human friends transform into spooky creatures or cute characters. I dream of becoming a little pumpkin or maybe even a tiny witch! It’s all about joining in the fun, right?
Then there’s Halloween night, which I absolutely can’t wait for! I see the little humans running around in all sorts of costumes, their laughter filling the air. I wish I could join them on their trick-or-treating adventures! Just imagine me roaming the neighborhood, seeing all the fun outfits, and, of course, dreaming of tasty treats—especially if they’re catnip-infused. My whiskers tingle just thinking about it!
As Halloween approaches, my excitement grows with each passing day. I’m ready to embrace all the playful spirit this holiday brings. So let’s get ready for some spooky fun—happy Halloween to everyone out there!
