Miami Masterminds to Rodeo Nights: A Week of Family, Travel, and Chaos
Settling Back Into the Peachtree City House
![]()
This week was one of those weeks where life felt busy from every direction. Between travel, family time, sorting through years of accumulated stuff, and trying to squeeze in a little fun, there was not much downtime.
Sam is officially getting settled back into the Peachtree City house, and I honestly forgot how much stuff someone can collect over four years. Moving out is one thing. Moving back home after college is something completely different.
Somehow, he managed to build an entire collection of graded comics, along with all the normal college gear, furniture, clothes, and random things people collect over time. The challenge now is figuring out where everything goes when you are moving from one fully lived-in space into another house that already has stuff everywhere.
Most of the weekend became a mix of sorting, organizing, hanging things up, and figuring out what needed to stay versus what needed to go.
Luna Adjusted Faster Than Everyone Else
While the humans were busy trying to reorganize life, Luna handled the transition with zero stress.
Within about a day, she was already back into her normal routine. Every morning, she gives the same look that says, “Alright, Dad, time for our walk.” Then again at night, she expects the second walk of the day.
If it were up to her, there would probably be five walks a day instead of two. But she has settled right back into home life quickly and seems perfectly happy having everybody around again.
A Quick Trip to Miami
In the middle of all this, I flew down to Miami for a business mastermind at the 10X Center.
The trip itself was interesting because I changed my normal routine this time. Usually, I fly out the night before events, but lately I have been trying to spend as much time at home as possible before traveling. Instead of leaving Tuesday night, I flew out early Wednesday morning.
That extra night at home honestly felt worth it.
The mastermind ran from Wednesday through Friday and was packed with meetings, conversations, and networking. Wednesday night included an event at Top Golf, which was actually my first time going. I finally understood why people enjoy it so much. It is competitive enough to be entertaining but relaxed enough that everyone can just hang out and talk business without it feeling formal.
The Fancy Chipotle Dinner
Thursday night was much less glamorous but probably more enjoyable.
I had dinner with a friend who works in real estate and runs in some of the same business circles. Instead of some huge luxury dinner, we ended up having what has become our traditional “fancy Chipotle dinner” back at the hotel.
Sometimes those are honestly the best conversations anyway.
No loud restaurant. No pressure. Just catching up and talking business, life, and ideas for a couple of hours.
The Uber Mistake That Turned Into a Headache
Friday morning was chaos.
Normally, whenever I take an Uber in another city, I double-check the route constantly to make sure everything looks right. For whatever reason, this time I did not.
Big mistake.
Partway through the ride, I realized we were heading to the wrong airport completely. We ended up having to redirect and rush to the correct airport, which immediately turned a normal travel day into a stressful one.
Thankfully, everything worked out, and I still made it back home safely.
One thing I definitely learned from the experience: trying to catch an earlier flight out of Miami on weekends is nearly impossible. Between cruise traffic and airport congestion, the locals basically said not to even bother trying Friday through Sunday.
Planning for MomoCon

Back home, Holly and I started talking about maybe heading over to MomoCon in Atlanta for a day.
We are still trying to figure out if we can make Saturday work, but it sounds like it could be a fun change of pace. Between comics, anime, gaming culture, and all the costumes people wear, it feels like one of those events where there is always something entertaining happening.
A Saturday Night at the Rodeo
Saturday night ended up being rodeo night instead.
Coweta County had a rodeo going on at the fairgrounds, so Holly and I headed out there for the evening. We walked around, checking out hats, talking to vendors, watching the events, and just enjoying being outside for a while.
It was one of those simple nights that ended up being more fun than expected.
Unfortunately, the Cowboys were losing that night, which definitely hurt the mood a little bit, but overall it was still a great time.
Netflix Fights and a 17-Second Finish
When we got home, we turned on the fights Jake Paul had promoted on Netflix.
We caught the Nick Diaz fight first, which ended in a stoppage after a lot of bleeding. Then came the fight everybody was curious about: Ronda Rousey versus Gina Carano.
Honestly, since neither had fought in a long time, I was not expecting much.
Instead, Ronda did exactly what Ronda has always done.
Arm bar. First round. Seventeen seconds.
It was fast enough that by the time people settled in, the fight was basically already over. Rousey has always been known for submissions, so the result itself was not shocking. The speed definitely was.
Slowing Down on Sunday
Sunday became more of a reset day.
More sorting. More cleaning. More figuring out what to keep and what needs to disappear from the house. Moving someone back home has a way of forcing everybody to reevaluate how much stuff they actually own.
Later that evening, we went to dinner with my parents and wrapped up the weekend in a much calmer way than it started.
Sometimes the Busy Weeks Are the Good Ones
Looking back, the week had a little bit of everything.
Family transitions. Business travel. Funny travel mistakes. Rodeos. Fights. Organizing life. Spending time with people who matter.
Those weeks can feel exhausting while they are happening, but they are usually the ones you remember later.
Hopefully, everybody else had a good week, too.
Final Thoughts
Life rarely slows down all at once. Most weeks are a mix of chaos, responsibility, small moments, and unexpected memories. One minute you are sorting through boxes and figuring out where comic collections belong, and the next you are sitting at a rodeo, rushing through a Miami airport, or watching a 17-second fight on Netflix.
What stood out most this week was how quickly routines start to form again. Sam settling back in, Luna immediately reclaiming her walking schedule, and everyone slowly adjusting to a new version of normal. It is a reminder that even during busy seasons, the little moments are usually the ones that matter most.
Sometimes the best weeks are not the perfectly planned ones. They are the weeks packed with real life, a little stress, a lot of movement, and just enough time spent with family and friends to make it all worthwhile.
