Set a Goal, Stick to a Plan, and Radiate Confidence!

Hey, so this last week we were in Peachtree City the whole time. It was really just a week at home. Me and Holly are doing our diet things, so lots of ground turkey, or deli chicken and some rice. For breakfast, doing the egg whites thing with our eggs. So that's been fine and then a lot of working out. All this is towards our target in end of August for Dragon Con, so trying to lose some weight for there.

That makes me think, so often, when we're trying to get in shape or lose weight, the goal is just, I want to lose this amount of weight or I want to get to this part. But we don't put a timeline on it. And I think when looking at any goals, you should do SMART goals, which are goals where you can define it, and you can track it, and articulate whether you won or lost. Time is always an issue. When will this be accomplished? When will it be done?

That's one of the things for us, Dragon Con happens at a specific time every year, the end of August, or the first weekend of September, every single time. So that gives a buffer and a window on when to do this and how much weight. You're not going to continue dieting forever or even working out forever. Now, I always like to work out, but sometimes you work out with more intensity than others. And with this deadline at the end of August, gives us a timeline and a window to push hard and focus on it. So that's where we're at, physically, is what I would say.

Sam's been at home and Noah got home Thursday night. He'd come down from High Point. He'd been up there over a lot of the summer, while they were working on the roof, and dealing with the water damage as a result of the slow roof repair. And when he left, they'd gotten everything taken up and torn up. They're not going to be able to start the remodel and fixing everything until right after the 4th of July. And, honestly, I know I'm a personal injury lawyer and I deal with car accidents all the time, but I have not dealt much with homeowner's claims. I just haven't had them in my own life, and we haven't dabbled in that area of law. Getting involved in it, I see how complex and difficult that can be. Because until the roof is repaired, you're going to continue to get water damage. The water damage is going to be made worse.

The insurance company can sometimes ask, "Did you take steps to try to minimize your damage or recover?" As they call it, which a lot of times, all you can do is try to tarp it. And did you tarp it correctly or incorrectly? Fortunately for us, there weren't any issues where the allegation was that this damage was from a design defect or architecture because a tree hit the boy's house. But I've talked to other people, and that becomes an issue. Then the water damage got worse from when the adjuster was out there the first time because it rained in between the adjuster coming out and them being able to work on the roof, which made things worse.

Then you get into what is the best way to fix it. Because you can find just a general handyman who may be great, may not, or they may just do the surface level stuff. Or you go to one of the water restoration people who do a much more thorough job. They have tools, they can measure the dampness of the walls, and cut that wall out, or dig into the floor and things like that, which is the route we went to. I can see how everything can just grow and the project just gets bigger and bigger, which is what we ran into with this house. We thought it was just a little bit of sheetrock and ceiling damage, and it turned out it was significantly more. It got into the floor and messed up the carpet and messed up the underflooring. So a bunch of issues with that.

But everything's proceeding well and according to plan, or according to what needs to happen, I guess. They should work on fixing everything, after the 4th. So the boys are looking forward to that because right now their house is in shambles. One good thing is that they did have a popcorn ceiling that was damaged, and they had wanted to get rid of it, and that's a big, huge endeavor to get rid of a popcorn ceiling. So it's all happening there, I guess, because the ceiling was damaged pretty badly where the water came in.

On a different note, like I say, Noah got into town on Thursday. The boys then bullied me and Holly into going to a comic book store and looking at some of the stuff there, tons of figurines, and tons of graphic novels. It amazes me just because graphic novels have grown in popularity. When I was a kid, there just weren't that many. A new one came out, it was cool, but they were still $8, $10, $15. Now, they have graphic novels, there's just hundreds and hundreds of these things from regular TV series and anime. And they range in price anywhere from $20 to $50 to $100. It's crazy to me how that area has grow.

I just think about one of the TV shows or movies I saw years ago, they said to somebody, "Oh, you're a comic book artist." He goes, "No, I'm a graphic novel artist." And the person didn't even see there was difference. I guess I didn't really see a huge difference because most of the graphic novels I know are compilations, where they just take a bunch of the comics and put them all together. But, undoubtedly, there's a huge market for that. One of the boys got some Walking Dead version graphic novel of Rick Grimes in the future, which was crazy. But, supposedly, that was the original pilot that was sold to the studios, and then they pivoted to the regular current timeline. I don't know whether that's true or not, but the boys said it was a pretty good story.

Then, over the weekend, we just hung out at the house. We cleaned up and fixed out my bar, and just got rid of some stuff. It was one of those things where the under cabinets, you just have them crammed full of stuff. So we got rid of some of that, made it more usable, and cleaned it all up, and spent a bunch of Sunday doing that. Then my family came over, and we swam and just hung out, and had Chinese food for dinner. I had the teriyaki beef and chicken, so mostly just meat and a little bit of fat. So other than that, hope everybody's doing well. Remember, if you are in pain, call Shane!

Paw Offices of Teddy, Robin, & Kingston

Hey everyone, it's Robin here, and I'm so excited to share my summer plans with you from my perspective! Peachtree City is my playground, especially when the sun is shining and the days are long.

First off, let me tell you about my absolute favorite thing: walks! Oh boy, there's nothing better than waking up early, stretching out, and tugging on my human's leash to get them moving. We've got these amazing trails and paths all over Peachtree City, and each one is like a new adventure waiting to happen. From the rustling trees to the occasional squirrel that teases me, every step is filled with excitement.

And it's not just about walking, you know. I love to run, jump, and play fetch too. There's this awesome park where I get to chase balls and dive into the cool grass. Sometimes, my family and I head to the pool—it's dog-friendly, and I can splash around and cool off. It's the best feeling, seeing everyone laugh and smile as we goof around together.

But the best part of summer? It's definitely the time I get to spend with my family. Whether we're lounging in the backyard under the shade or snuggled up together after a long day of fun, being with them is what makes my tail wag the most. We share treats, stories, and lots of belly rubs—life couldn't get any better.

Peachtree City isn't just where I live; it's my community. I've got friends everywhere, both human and furry. We meet up at the dog park, go on group walks, and sometimes, we even get together for neighborhood events. It's like having a big, extended family, and I love every wagging tail and friendly bark.

So, as summer rolls in, you'll find me out there, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying every moment. Whether I'm exploring new trails, making new friends, or just cuddling up with my family, I'm living my best dog life in Peachtree City. Thanks for listening to my summer plans—I can't wait to see what adventures await!
