This past week felt especially busy, even though Holly and I stayed in Georgia the entire time.
There were a few projects around the house, a local Pokémon card show, some time out at the land with Luna, and plenty of preparation for Dragon Con.
Sometimes staying close to home does not make the week any less full.
I had ordered an updated hard drive and expected the installation to be fairly straightforward.
Of course, technology projects rarely work exactly that way.
Once I opened everything up, I realized some of the plugs were not where I expected them to be, so I had to move a few things around and work through the connections.
After installing the new hard drive, the controllers stopped working.
That started another round of checking connections, testing different things, and trying to figure out where the problem was.
Eventually, I updated one of the drivers, and that seemed to solve the issue.
It took more work than I expected, but I was happy to finally get everything running.
I believe this was the first time they had hosted one in the area, and there was definitely plenty of interest.
We arrived around 9:00 in the morning when the show opened. At that point, it was still relatively easy to move around and look at everything.
By about 10:30, the room was getting extremely crowded.
There were probably around 10 to 15 vendors packed into a fairly small conference room, and by the time we left, it was becoming difficult to move around comfortably.
I would not be surprised if they choose a larger venue the next time they hold the event.
The selection was good, and it was interesting to see how many people showed up for something that was being held locally for the first time.
It seems like Pokémon cards continue to have a surprisingly large following.
One of the benefits of having all that open space is giving her a chance to run around without being limited to a normal backyard or neighborhood walk.
We brought a ball and let her play, explore, and burn off some energy.
She looked like she was having the time of her life.
Luna definitely seems to enjoy the open space, and it is always fun watching her run around the property like she owns the place.
As we continue spending more time out there, I think she is going to enjoy the land as much as anyone.
Apparently, he also managed to find some free time one evening and went to a local car show.
Holly was a little jealous when she heard about it because she always enjoys a good car show.
Most of the shows we see around Peachtree City happen during the day, so this one had a different atmosphere because it took place at night.
Cars with custom lighting and other details can look completely different after dark.
The lights become part of the display instead of getting lost in the daylight, which gives the entire event a different feel.
It sounded like Sam enjoyed getting out and seeing something different while he was in Charlotte.
Holly and I are also getting everything ready for Dragon Con.
At this point, we are officially in the final stretch.
For me, that means getting much stricter with my diet as I prepare for the 300 DC Spartans parade.
There is always a point before Dragon Con when preparation seems to accelerate. Suddenly, costumes need to be checked, bags need to be packed, and all the small things we have been putting off need to get finished.
After going for so many years, we know what to expect, but there is still plenty to do before leaving.
The preparation is part of the tradition at this point.
Once the costumes are ready and everything is packed, then we can finally stop thinking about getting ready for Dragon Con and actually enjoy Dragon Con.
They found him trying to cross the road completely by himself, which was obviously not a great situation for such a small kitten.
Since then, they have essentially been learning how to raise a cat while making sure he stays healthy and continues growing.
He looks like a little tiger and has become part of the household along with Ivy and JJ.
Rescuing an animal is usually not something you plan for.
Sometimes one simply appears in your path, and suddenly you have another member of the family.
So far, it sounds like he is settling in well and getting plenty of attention.
I finally got the video game machine working after dealing with a few unexpected technical problems. Holly and I checked out the first Pokémon card show in Peachtree City, and Luna had a chance to spend some time running around the land.
Sam found a nighttime car show while continuing his time in Charlotte, and Noah and Carly are settling into life with their unexpected rescue kitten.
Meanwhile, Holly and I are in the final stages of getting ready for Dragon Con.
The costumes are coming together, the packing has started, and my diet has become considerably less exciting.
It may have been a busy week, but there were plenty of enjoyable moments mixed in.
Now it is time for Dragon Con.
