Twisted Ankles and Twisted Plans!

Written by Shane Smith | Jul 17, 2024 11:00:00 AM

Hey, Shane here. So, July started out strong. It was a busy week after the 4th. Anytime you're out of town or have a short week, it seems like the next week is just chock-full of stuff. Also, I'd spent the 4th of July setting out my goals to achieve between then and the end of the year. And then in my business group, we also narrow it down to what you're going to try to target over the next month. On some stuff, I was further ahead than I thought I would be by this time of the year, and then on a few others I was a little further behind than I thought I was. So those need to be bumped up in priority.

It's just interesting to look at it and it reminds me why you need a timeline for goals to be effective. Also, you need to be able to break them up into smaller goals and review them pretty regularly, otherwise they get away from you. You don't achieve them. During the week, a downside was that I twisted my ankle over the 4th of July weekend, and it was still bothering me all week. So that was making getting in my steps challenging and I had to miss my workout on Wednesday when I normally do legs, just because I didn't think I could take the support or the stress of it on my ankle. Hoping that gets better real soon and it's not a big deal.

We did go to North Carolina on Tuesday, flew up there, discussed with the team some SOPs, and also just discussed some cases with my attorneys and shot some video content as well. Then we went back to Georgia that night. Those trips are always long. We had some bad weather ahead of us around Atlanta due to all the weather disruption and some of those big storms in the Caribbean up the coast. So, there were some thunderstorms and there wasn't a good way around them. We had to ground the plane and wait for the storms to go over and then get back on the trip. It just made it a later night and we didn't get back home until late. I ended up eating some vending machine cheese and crackers, which is never ideal for a diet or a workout, but it was there, and I was pretty hungry.

And then Thursday and Friday I went with Holly to a conference down in Florida. It was a longer drive than we planned. I think when we initially put it in the maps or whatever, it told us about six, to six and a half hours. It turned into about seven and a half to eight with traffic and just the trip, I guess. But we did go. The conference was fun, learned some stuff, and had a good time. One of the nights they had a mixer, and the theme was dress up nice, so it was fancy. I got to wear some fancy clothes there, which is always fun, and meet other people.

I was surprised to find that the conference center we were at did not have a great gym at all. It was actually pretty awful. It didn't have anything, so I ended up having to go to a LifeTime Fitness gym down the street. I was glad I had my car and worked out there.

I don't normally work out in public gyms. I usually work out in my basement. So, getting used to people having the weights you want to use, or having the bench you want to use, or just being all around while you work out is difficult for me. I did laugh that on the wall in Planet Fitness, they have a lunk alarm, which is for anybody who's making loud noises or dropping weights, supposedly it goes off. I don't know if it really does go off or not.

It was startling Saturday night while we were at the event, my phone started going off and I got text messages from several of my friends who let us know that there had been an assassination attempt and shooting on Donald Trump. Scary moment for us. I wasn’t at home and just didn't know what was going on. Tried to get some updates and just figure out what was going on basically. And we ended up getting up early Sunday morning and heading back to Peachtree City, just to the boys, just because it's kind of a scary event just seeing it on the news and glad that nothing else happened and that he was okay.

On the way back home, we ended up stopping at, I think Holly's new favorite rest stop to stop during trips, Buc-ees. And I always forget how crowded it is. It's crazy. But it is a crowded restaurant and Holly ended up getting a Philly cheese burrito and I ended up just eating some brisket, that was good as well and we just had a really good time. When we got back on Sunday, I was pretty tired and my ankle had been bothering me all the time, so I think I'm going to schedule an appointment with an orthopedist and make sure everything's good there. Hope you all have a great week and remember, if you are in pain, call Shane!

Paw Offices of Teddy, Robin, & Kingston

Hey, Robin here. One of the issues is since Dad hurt his foot, he hasn't been walking me as much in the mornings, which is not cool at all, or just short walks. But I have gotten to play with Noah some, and what Noah will do is he'll take me down to the bottom of my yard and have me sit, and then he runs all the way to the other side and calls me over, and I get to run super fast, as fast as I can over there, right in his arms for pets and rubs, and then we do it again. And that's a ton of fun. It's one of my favorite things to do. I get super excited when we do it, because Mom and Dad have a big yard and I get to run super fast, and so fast, much faster than my brother Teddy.

Another cool thing I have noticed is since I've been down in Atlanta during the summertime from North Carolina, the sun is very bright. And since I'm a cool dog, I have taken to wearing sunglasses when I can.
