Why Word-of-Mouth Is Still the Gold Standard

Hey y’all—just checking in with a little life and firm update. This past week was a bit more low-key, a stay-at-home kind of week for us. And by “stay at home,” I really mean I stayed close to home—I was working out of our Peachtree City office all week. Holly and I didn’t travel or get into anything too crazy this time. We kept it local and pretty routine, but honestly, it was a good week.

A lot of our time and energy was focused on some internal changes at the firm, specifically around leadership and strategy. We’ve been making a strong push to empower our leadership teams—giving them more opportunities to take initiative, make decisions, and step fully into their roles. That means more responsibility, but also more ownership and growth for everyone involved. I’ve really seen our senior attorneys step up lately. They’ve taken on mentoring roles with some of our younger lawyers, and it’s been awesome to watch. That kind of development is something we value a lot, and it’s a big part of how we keep getting better—not just as lawyers, but as a team.

We’ve also continued to grow, which is exciting. The firm has been buzzing with new cases and leads. And something I’m especially proud of: last month, we had a record number of referrals come in from our current and past clients. In fact, we had more repeat or word-of-mouth referrals in March than in any other month in our firm’s history—over 50 new clients came through that way. That speaks volumes about the work we’re doing and the trust people place in us. We track these kinds of things closely, not just for the numbers, but because they tell a story about how well we’re serving people.

In addition to client referrals, we’ve also had some great referrals from chiropractors, doctors, and fellow attorneys—folks who see firsthand what we do for our clients. Anytime someone in the medical or legal field refers someone to us, I take it as a huge compliment. It shows that they see the effort and care we put into every case, and that they believe in the quality of our work. That kind of recognition means the world to me and to our entire team.

So professionally, March ended on a high note. We’re carrying that momentum into April, continuing to fine-tune how we lead and serve, and making sure that our foundation stays strong as we grow.

Image (2)-1Outside of work, Holly and I did make it out one night during the week. On Wednesday, we went to a local concert in Atlanta, which featured three different bands from the Netherlands. I thought it was going to be a heavy metal show, but it turned out to be more of a rock-pop fusion—kind of upbeat, kind of quirky. Honestly, it felt a little like something you'd see on Eurovision, which made it fun in a different kind of way. We didn’t stay through the final act though—right as they were getting started, they fired up those fog machines with the fake smoke, and my allergies said nope. So we dipped out early, but it was still a good time. Always fun to do something a little unexpected midweek.

Image (4)Speaking of allergies—yeah, they’ve been rough. The pollen right now is out of control. I’ve had the whole thing—sore throat, congestion, just feeling kind of gross. It’s definitely allergy season, and not much you can do but ride it out, take your meds, and hope the wind doesn’t blow all that yellow dust directly into your face. The good news is we know it’s just allergies and not a virus or cold, so at least there’s that.

Back at home, Teddy’s recovering from surgery. He’s doing well, all things considered, but he’s got a pretty intense-looking set of stitches. We made sure someone stayed with him while we were at the concert because we didn’t want to leave him alone while he’s still healing. He’s been a trooper, though. Slowed down a bit, but still has that same Teddy attitude.

The weekend was pretty mellow. Holly spent some time with her mom, who’s had some health stuff going on. I stayed around the house, just laying low. It felt like the right time to just be still, take care of family, and reset a bit. Sometimes, that’s what the weekend needs to be.

I caught some of the UFC fights too—this weekend’s card was down in Mexico. I missed the early ones because it started earlier than I expected, but I got to watch the main fights. Not all of my fighters pulled off a win, but it was still a great card. Always something exciting going on, and I love seeing the energy of a good crowd down there. Mexican fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and it always makes for a great atmosphere.

We also realized it’s been a while since we went out to the movies. I was poking around to see if there was anything worth seeing, but honestly, I didn’t find much that interested me. A few movies I’d heard about had some pretty negative press, and overall, it just felt like a slow stretch for fun, lighthearted stuff. We weren’t really in the mood for anything heavy or serious, so we passed. Hoping something more our speed comes out soon.

Image (5)And finally—this was funny—part of my morning routine is to get up early, take a walk, do some journaling, and then jump into the pool. It’s my version of a cold plunge. I’ve tried the tubs and the ice buckets, and honestly, I just don’t enjoy those. But diving into the pool? That works for me.

So I go out one morning, getting ready for the plunge, and what do I see? A duck. Just floating there in the middle of my pool. Not in a rush, not startled—just hanging out. I gave him some space, and eventually he swam over to the edge and hopped out. But here’s the best part—he came back the next day. Maybe he is starting his own routine too. Anyway, that’s the week. Hope you all had a good one as well.

And of course, as always—If you're in pain, call Shane!
