Family Time, Food Trucks, and Settling Into Summer

Some weeks are packed with big events, and some weeks are filled with the little moments that end up meaning just as much. This past week was a good mix of family time, office events, getting outdoors, and watching everyone settle into their routines.

Luna's New Favorite Spot

Luna continues to make herself right at home.

The other day, Holly was talking about how much she missed Ted, our French Bulldog, and one of the things she missed most was how he'd curl up on her legs while she was relaxing on the couch. Ted was basically a built-in heating blanket.

So I scooped up Luna and set her on Holly's legs.

Now, Luna is a little bigger than Ted ever was, but she settled in and stayed there for about twenty minutes before deciding she'd gotten too warm and moved on. By then, Holly was pretty warm too.

It's funny how pets have a way of creating new traditions while still reminding us of old ones.

Memorial Day Food Trucks and Office Fun

Our offices celebrated Memorial Day with some good food and a chance for everyone to spend time together outside of work.

In the Peachtree City office, we had the Varsity food truck come out, while the Charlotte office had a different food truck visit their team.

The Varsity is always a crowd favorite, especially for Andrew, but it seemed like everyone enjoyed it. We spent some time eating, catching up, and playing cornhole.

It's always nice when the team gets a chance to step away from the daily routine and just enjoy each other's company for a while.

Inspiration in Unexpected Places

As Holly and I continue thinking about ideas for our house, I find myself noticing all sorts of interesting design ideas.

This week I came across a photo on Instagram that caught my attention. It showed a decorative drainage feature where rainwater flowed from the house into a stone-lined trough. It was one of those simple details that was both practical and attractive.

Sometimes the smallest design ideas end up being the most memorable.

Niece and Nephew Day

Saturday turned into a dedicated niece and nephew day.

Holly took my niece to a pottery studio where she got to create a couple of pieces of her own. They're currently going through the drying, glazing, and kiln process, so we'll have to wait a little while to see the finished products.

Meanwhile, my nephew Jonathan and I headed out to the ranch.

We spent most of our time shooting my .22 rifle, which was set up on a tripod stand. We shot a few pistols as well, but most of the afternoon was spent seeing how many soda cans we could hit.

It was simple, relaxing, and a great way to spend some time together.

Exploring the Land

One of the things I always enjoy about being out on the property is discovering something new every time.

During one of our breaks, Jonathan and I came across a dead tree that had essentially been turned into a woodpecker apartment complex.

We counted eight or nine separate holes in the tree, all created by woodpeckers over time. It was pretty impressive to see how much activity had happened in one tree.

We also found several large mushrooms growing nearby, which always catch my attention when we're walking around the property.

Evening Walks With Luna

Luna has settled into a routine of expecting two walks every day.

One in the morning.

One in the evening.

And she makes sure we remember.

This week, Holly joined us for one of our evening walks, turning it into a little family outing. Nothing complicated, just the three of us spending some time together outside.

Noah Finishes Another Year of Law School

Sam has been spending time working in the office this summer and continues learning different parts of the business.

Right now he's rotating through our intake department, getting familiar with how things work before moving into other departments. It's a great opportunity for him to see how everything fits together.

He was especially excited this week because his activity metrics were looking strong, and he was happy with how things were going.

Noah officially wrapped up his second year of law school and received his grades. He did great.

Now he's getting to enjoy a little bit of summer before classes start back up again.

Final Thoughts

This week was a reminder that life doesn't always need major events to be meaningful. A food truck lunch with coworkers, a pottery class with family, an afternoon outdoors, a walk with the dog, or celebrating a child's accomplishments can be just as memorable as any big vacation or special occasion.

Sometimes the best weeks are simply the ones spent with the people you care about most.
